DIAGNODENT
Traditionally dentists search for cavities by poking around a patient’s mouth with a pointy metal hook (an explorer). Turns out, prodding teeth with sharp instruments may not be very diagnostic. Instead. we now use Diagnodent, a laser light that can illuminate dead or decaying tissue on teeth. It can also help catch future or present cavities . Now we can detect something developing before we can find it with an explorer or X-rays. When that happens, the tooth can be rebuilt before a deeper cavity can form.
