Italian researchers from the University of Pavia credit a compound called trigonelline, (which gives coffee its aroma and bitter taste), for having both antibacterial and anti-adhesive properties.
This helps prevent dental cavities from forming by preventing the cavity causing bacteria Streptococcus mutans from adhering to teeth.
